Fill the Cookie Jar: Recipe #3
It’s that time of year when Christmas nostalgia takes hold of our hearts, and so often times, that involves food from Christmases past. One of those foods, for me anyways, is peanut butter fudge! I am not certain who made the fudge, but nearly every holiday gathering seemed to have it.
As an adult, I’ve tried several recipes to make peanut butter fudge and none quite brought me back to my childhood like this one from House of Nash Eats. I did adapt it slightly, swapped milk for cream and added a bit more powdered sugar. And it’s perfect! BONUS, you don’t need a candy thermometer or any fancy equipment to make it.
Also, I am quite aware that this is NOT a cookie recipe, but it can be used to fill a cookie jar, nonetheless. So here’s the third installment for our “Fill the Cookie Jar” series!

Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Fudge
Ingredients
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup salted butter
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1t vanilla
- 3 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Directions
Butter an 8×11, or similar sized dish, to prevent sticking.
Mix brown sugar, heavy cream, and butter in a medium sauce pan. 2 cups brown sugar, ¾ cup cream, ½ cup butter
Cook over medium-high heat until sugar and butter melt and the mixture begins to boil. Allow to boil for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and vanilla. 1cup peanut butter, 1t vanilla
In a large bowl or stand mixer, add powder sugar and peanut butter mixture. 3 ¼ cup powdered sugar
Mix on medium until all sugar has been incorporated and mixture is smooth.
Pour mixture into prepared pan. Gently tap the dish on the counter to level the mixture. Allow to cool and setup for 2-3 hours or overnight, then slice into squares.
